How to make Butterfly Pea Flower Tea (The Purple Tea)
With a unique scientific name as Clitoria ternatea L. and commonly known as Butterfly Pea, this unique plant makes one of the most unique Blue Herb Tea. The tea with its peculiar anthocyanin pigment makes it an amazing health booster. The flowers have a majestic deep blue colour with a tinge of purple colour, which makes it stand out from other flowers. These flowers are rich in antioxidants, which makes them great for cell repair.
RECIPE-
INGREDIENTS -
• Loose butterfly pea flowers (or tea bags)
• Filtered water
• Teapot with strainer
• Electric Kettle with Temperature Setting
Steps to follow for making Tea
1) Start by boiling water- The
quality of water is very important. If you are using Electric Kettle with
temperature setting, set it at 208 degree fahrenheit.
2) Warm the Teapot- Pour some hot water into the teapot and swirl it around a bit to warm it up. Discard water. When the teapot is warm, the tea won’t cool down as fast while it’s brewing.
3) Pour butterfly pea flower tea into teapot and then add hot water.
4) Cover the Teapot and steep it for 5 minutes. Minimum time of preparation for the herbal tea is less than 5 minutes, it is advised to steep it for maximum 5 minutes so that it doesn’t turn bitter!!
5) Strain butterfly pea flowers and pour hot tea into a
teacup.
